01
Money, access & basics
Q
Is it really free?
Sending is feeless — no fee, no gas, no per-message charge. The only thing you put up is a one-time refundable bond (a spam gate) that you get back. Receiving is always free.
Q
Do I need crypto to use it?
It’s part of the Stealth app family, and your identity is just an address — no name, phone number, or contact upload. Sending posts a one-time refundable bond; receiving needs only an address.
Q
Can I send photos or files?
No — stealthtext is text-only by design. Keeping it to text also means image-based abuse can’t travel over the channel.
Q
What platforms does it run on?
Desktop and mobile (iOS and Android), with equal weight. The browser extension does not carry messaging.
Q
How much is the bond, and why?
1,000 XSS, locked once when you start sending. It’s a spam gate, not a fee — flooding the network would mean tying up a fortune, so throwaway spam accounts stay expensive. It stays locked until you choose to unlock it, then it’s yours again.
Q
If the bond amount changes, am I affected?
No. Your bond is fixed to the amount in force when you locked it — a later change can never evict you or make you top up. You’d only meet a new amount if you unlock and lock again by choice.
Q
Who can change the bond amount?
The community, slowly — not us, and no price feed. Stakers each set a preferred figure and the live number is the stake-weighted median, so no single holder can move it. It eases in small steps and can shift at most about once or twice a year, keeping the entry cost sensible as XST/XSS value drifts.
02
Privacy, safety & status
Q
Can anyone read my messages?
No. Every message is end-to-end encrypted to the recipient — only their key opens it. No company server, no backdoor. Messages are authenticated with post-quantum zk-STARKs and sealed with post-quantum encryption — proof and privacy both post-quantum.
Q
What can the network see?
That a shielded action happened, and roughly when — never who sent it, who received it, or what it said.
Q
Where do messages go after two weeks?
A network-wide expiry removes them for both sides — no server keeps a copy. Removed from honest nodes and unreadable to everyone; encryption is the one absolute.
Q
Do messages pile up at scale?
Only under sustained demand above the rail’s rate (about 43 messages/sec, measured). Normal bursts drain in seconds.
Q
What about spam and harassment?
Block any address at any time; the one-time bond makes throwaway spam accounts costly. The site publishes a safety contact and a community-standards commitment.
Q
Is it live?
Yes — messaging runs on Stealth’s shielded rail, post-quantum from proof to encryption.

stealthtext runs on Stealth’s shielded rail — feeless, metadata-hidden, and post-quantum-authenticated.
